The ROBEL company was founded in Munich in 1901 and after only a few years had become a specialist for railway construction equipment and machinery.

Challenge

The company needs to replace a previous application for document management with a more modern one, easily accessible without having to install specific clients and also available via the Web. The company needs to find and access documents anytime and from anywhere through a document management system easy to administer, Open Source, and with guarantees of future developments and expert assistance. Furthermore, it must be ensured maximum security in the exchange of documents and information through the assignment of rights to users and / or groups. A further request was to be able to customize the system to adapt to the needs of the company's branding.

Continued improvement

ROBEL currently uses LogicalDOC within the sales and engineering department. In the future they plan to extend the use of LogicalDOC to other departments.

ROBEL requested another feature to be included in LogicalDOC that the development team has taken steps to include in release 4.6 of the software: it is the system for monitoring access to documents. With this new feature the company is able to track exactly all the documents so they can reconstruct the activities carried out by a user on a document during its entire lifetime.

Another LogicalDOC feature that ROBEL greatly appreciated is the ability to define workflows for the documents. In fact the number of documents held by the company is growing and it is necessary that LogicalDOC allows to define responsibilities ad activities to be assigned to users in order to work collaboratively on documents.
